A worker experiencing severe chest pains was rescued from an offshore oil platform located off the coast of California in a high-risk operation carried out by the United States Coast Guard.

The rescue was captured on video and released by authorities, showing tense moments during the operation.

The mission took place on Friday morning when an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter was dispatched to the Heritage platform, located about 56 kilometers off the coast, following an emergency alert. A crew member was lowered by rope to the deck of the platform to provide aid, followed by a stretcher, onto which the worker was carefully secured and hoisted into the helicopter.

After the rescue, the man was transported to Camarillo Airport in Ventura County and urgently taken to St. John’s Hospital in the same city. The patient’s identity and current medical condition have not yet been disclosed.
